Images, one problem at a time
Image Doctor: find image problems, fix them, prove they are fixed
Images are often the heaviest and the most overlooked part of a website. Missing descriptions make pages harder to use with a screen reader, huge files slow the page, and broken images look unfinished. Image Doctor is how Crawvix finds these problems, explains each one with evidence, and checks again after you fix it.
What is checked today, in every plan
These image checks already run in every full scan. Each one comes with the evidence we found, the steps to fix it, and a recheck.
- Picture descriptions (alt text). Images without an
altattribute are reported, and a purposely emptyalt=""on a decorative image is not treated as a mistake. - Broken images. Image addresses that answer with an error are listed with the pages that use them.
- Heavy and unoptimized images. From the speed test: oversized files, images in older formats, and images that slow the largest visible element of the page.
- The largest visible image. Whether the main image of a page loads in good time, with the speed test's own measurement.
How Image Doctor works

1. Scan the images
After you prove the website is yours, Crawvix builds a list of every image it finds: where it is used, its size and type, its description, how it loads, and whether it works. One image used on ten pages is listed once, with ten places of use, because the right description can depend on where the picture appears.

2. See what needs attention, with evidence
Problems are sorted by how much they matter. Each shows a thumbnail, the pages that use it, exactly what we measured and the next step. Where we are not sure, for example a description that might be too generic, it is marked review, never as a definite failure.

3. Get suggestions you control
On request, Crawvix proposes a description for each image from the page around it, or recommends an empty description when the picture is only decoration. You see the original and the proposal side by side, edit it, and approve only what you want. Nothing is invented: we do not make up materials, sizes, brands or claims the page does not show.

4. Take the fixes with you
Download a spreadsheet that maps each page and image to its current and proposed description, and a ZIP of resized, lighter copies with a list of what each file replaces. Your original files are never touched, and Crawvix never changes your website by itself.

5. Recheck
After you publish your changes, Crawvix looks at the live pages again and reports each image as fixed, still failing, needs review or not checked, with the time and the exact evidence. No guessing.

What we promise, and what we do not
- Crawvix reads your website; it does not change it. Anything that would change your website will be a separate, clearly labelled option you turn on, with a preview and your approval each time.
- Full image checks run only on websites you have proved you own.
- Better descriptions and lighter images make pages easier to use and faster to load. We do not promise higher search rankings, and fixing images alone does not make a website accessibility-compliant.
