Who these terms are with
These terms are an agreement between you and Crawvix LTD, which runs Crawvix (crawvix.com). In these terms "we", "us" and "Crawvix" mean Crawvix LTD, and "you" means the person or organization using the service.
If you use Crawvix for an organization, you confirm that you may accept these terms for it. How we handle personal data is in the Privacy notice, and the cookies we set are on the cookies page.
What the service is
Crawvix runs automated checks on a website you add and explains what to fix. It gives guidance and measurements. It does not promise that any page will be indexed, ranked, or reach any score. Search engines make their own decisions, and what they do is outside our control.
Results can be wrong or incomplete. When a check cannot tell, it says "Not checked yet" and gives the reason. A passed check means it passed when we ran it. Lighthouse scores come from Google's PageSpeed Insights service and can change from run to run. Example screens on this site are labeled DEMO.
The guides and fix recipes are general information. They are not legal, tax or other professional advice, and following them does not promise any result. You decide what to change on your own website, and you are responsible for changes you make.
Crawvix only reads your website; it does not change it.
Scanning needs proof of ownership
You prove that a website is yours by one of three methods: a file on the website, a meta tag in its home page, or a DNS TXT record. Full scans, and the checks that make extra requests to the website, run only after that proof. Before it, the service may run only a small, limited look at a few pages, and checks that need ownership read "Verify ownership first". The free sample never scans a website that is not verified.
Proof of ownership is a technical step. It does not give you permission from other people who may have rights in the website. Add and verify only websites that you own or are authorized to test, and keep the proof in place only for as long as you remain authorized.
Acceptable use
You agree that you will:
- add and scan only websites that you own or are authorized to test;
- keep to the limits of your plan and to the rate limits of the service;
- keep your password and two-factor details to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has them.
You agree that you will not:
- scan, probe or collect data from a website you do not control or are not authorized to test;
- try to get around ownership verification, plan limits, rate limits or the separation between organizations, or try to see another organization's data;
- use the service to attack, overload or disrupt a website, to send spam, or to collect other people's personal data;
- break the law or other people's rights with the service, or upload or send anything harmful;
- copy, resell, sublicense or offer the service, its checks, guides or results to others as your own, except as your plan expressly allows (for example, sharing reports or white-label reports on a plan that includes them);
- install the error snippet on a website you do not own or have not verified, send fake reports to the collector, or use the service to build a competing product.
Our scanner identifies itself as "CrawvixBot", reads each website's robots.txt and skips the paths it disallows for our crawler. If you install the error snippet, mention it in your own privacy notice.
Accounts and security
An account needs an email address that you confirm by a link we send. Give us correct information and keep it up to date. Sign-up can be closed. An account created through sign-up belongs to an organization, and the person who signs up is its owner. Only the owner can change the plan or the payment method. The Viewer role can only read. Two-factor sign-in is optional, except for administrator accounts, where it is required.
You are responsible for what happens under your account. Choose a strong password. Signing in locks the account for a short time after repeated wrong passwords. This is to protect it. Tell us at info@crawvix.com if you think your account has been used without your permission.
Plans, prices and taxes
What each plan includes, and its price, is on the pricing page. The system enforces the limits on its own servers (for example the number of websites, scans, pages per scan, scheduled scans and share links), and a request that goes over a limit is refused, whatever your browser sends. A plan that is not active cannot add websites or start scans.
Prices are shown before you pay. Unless a price says otherwise, it does not include taxes such as VAT or sales tax. Where tax applies, it is added and shown to you before you confirm the payment, and it appears on your invoice. We may change plans and prices. A change to the price of a subscription you already have applies from your next renewal, and we will tell you before it does, so that you can cancel first.
Payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds
Paid plans are subscriptions. Stripe takes the payment. You type your card details into Stripe's payment form, and they do not reach our servers. Stripe shows the exact price before you pay.
Automatic renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period (for example every month, as shown at checkout) and we charge the payment method on file for the next period, until you cancel.
Cancellation. The owner of an organization can open "Plan and billing", and:
- choose "Cancel at the end of the period". The plan keeps working until the end of the period you paid for, you are not charged again, and you can undo the cancellation before the period ends;
- change to another paid plan;
- open Stripe's billing page to update the card and download invoices.
If a payment fails, the plan keeps working for 7 days from the first failed payment. After that, scans, rechecks and new websites stop until a payment succeeds. Your data is kept.
Refunds. If you are not satisfied, write to info@crawvix.com within 7 days of the first payment for a subscription and we will refund that payment in full to the payment method you used. This applies to the first payment only. Later renewals, and partial periods (for example the unused part of a period after you cancel), are not refunded. Where the law gives you a right to a refund or to cancel that these terms cannot take away, that right is not affected.
Free sample
A visitor can get a limited sample for a website they own, after proving ownership. It shows how many checks pass and up to three findings. Fixes, evidence, the Launch Plan, rechecks and exports need a paid plan. The sample has limits on how often it can be used, and it can be switched off.
Share links
A share link shows a frozen, read-only copy of a report to anyone who has the link, until it expires (you choose between 1 and 90 days) or you revoke it. Anyone who can read the link can read the report, so share it only with people who should see it.
Your content and licence
"Your content" means what you put into the service: website addresses, names and notes you type, settings, the email address for the digest, and the results our scans produce for your websites. You keep your rights in it.
You give us a limited, worldwide licence to host, copy, process and display your content only as needed to run the service for you, including showing it to the people you share it with, and to keep it safe. The licence ends when your content is deleted, except for copies that remain for a short time in backups or that we must keep by law.
You promise that you have the right to add the websites you add and to give us the content you give us. We may use information that cannot identify you or your websites, such as overall counts of checks passed, to run and improve the service.
Our intellectual property
Crawvix, its software, checks, guides, fix recipes, text, designs and name belong to us or our licensors. These terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service while you are allowed to, for your own websites or, if you are an agency, your clients' websites. They give you no ownership of anything.
You may use the results, reports and exports for your own business. You may not copy, scrape or republish the guides and recipes as a collection, or remove notices from the service. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.
Third-party services
Crawvix relies on other companies, including our hosting provider, Stripe for payments, Google PageSpeed Insights for Lighthouse scores and Cloudflare for form checks. They are listed in the Privacy notice. Their services have their own terms and notices, we do not control them, and we are not responsible for what they do or for when they are unavailable. Websites you link to or scan are not ours either.
Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep Crawvix running, but we do not promise that it will always be available or free of errors. The service can be unavailable, and scans can fail or finish only in part. The service shows when a scan was partial. We may do maintenance, and we may change, add or remove features. If we make a change that matters a lot to paying customers, we will tell them.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the extent the law allows, Crawvix is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranty of any kind about it: not that it will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted or error-free, not that it will meet your needs, and not any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. Nothing we say or do is a promise of search rankings, indexing, traffic, revenue or Lighthouse scores.
If you are a consumer, you may have legal rights that cannot be excluded, and these terms do not take them away.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue, traffic, rankings, goodwill or data, or for loss that was not a foreseeable result of a breach of these terms;
- our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the service or these terms is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude. Keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you will cover us for losses, costs and claims brought by someone else that arise from your breach of these terms, from your content, or from scanning a website that you were not authorized to scan. We will tell you promptly about such a claim and let you help deal with it.
Suspension and ending
You can stop using the service at any time by cancelling your plan. You can ask us to delete your account by writing to info@crawvix.com; see the Privacy notice for how we handle that.
We can suspend or end your access, in whole or in part, if you break these terms, if a payment is overdue beyond the period above, if your use puts the service, other customers or other websites at risk, or if the law requires. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix the problem first. The operator can also switch off an organization's access, for example by ending a plan that was granted without payment, and can put the whole site behind a "coming soon" page.
When your access ends, your right to use the service ends. Parts of these terms that by their nature should continue, such as those on intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and governing law, continue.
Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or the service, are governed by the laws applicable where the operator is established.
We would like to settle any problem with you directly first, so please write to info@crawvix.com. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live and, where the law gives you the right, you may bring a claim in the courts there.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The date of the latest version is shown at the top of this page. For a change that matters, we will tell account holders by email or in the service before it takes effect. If you keep using Crawvix after the change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, you can cancel your plan and stop using the service.
General
These terms, with the Privacy notice, are the whole agreement between you and us about the service. If a part of them is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a part at once, that does not mean we give it up. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our written consent; we may transfer ours as part of a sale or reorganization of the business.
